Saint Louis University ranks No. 22 on Intelligent.com’s list of the top Project Management Degree programs for 2021 nationwide.

SLU’s Bachelor of Science in Project Management (PM) was recognized for Best Accelerated Program. The assessments for top picks were based on affordability, reputation, and flexibility. Launched in 2017, the PM program is offered entirely online and was the first of its kind at the University to combine a degree with certifications that are in demand by employers.

According to the Project Management Institute (PMI), demand over the next 10 years for project managers will grow faster than demand for workers in other occupations. PMI projects that by 2027, employers will need nearly 88 million individuals in project management-oriented roles.

Randy Robertson, Ph.D., director of SLU’s project management programs, said graduates are prepared to successfully tackle complex projects and give their employers a competitive advantage.

“The Project Management program is taught exclusively by current and former practicing professionals in the field of project management,” Robertson said. “Every course is specifically designed to prepare students to gain expertise in one of the many facets of project management, from planning and scheduling to risk management; from team building and conflict resolution to budgeting and finance.”

Robertson said most students are working professionals, and SLU leverages that by providing opportunities for students to apply their studies to their workplace.

"Many of our students are already working for major area companies such as Boeing, BJC, and, of course, SLU,” Robertson said. “For several of them, the degree has afforded an opportunity for advancement within their current organization. Other students use the degree to change careers, as salaries in the field of project management are quite competitive.”
