SLU Launches Tuition Promise Covering Full Undergraduate Tuition for Eligible Students
ST. LOUIS — Starting in fall 2026, eligible first-time freshmen will be able to attend Saint Louis University without paying undergraduate tuition through a new initiative aimed at expanding college access and affordability.
The SLU Tuition Promise is for students from families with a combined Adjusted Gross
Income of $60,000 or less and limited assets. Eligible students will have their full
undergraduate tuition covered through gift aid from all sources, including federal
and state grants.
“Our Jesuit mission calls us to remove barriers to the opportunities provided by a
SLU education,” said Jean Marie Cox, the University’s interim vice president for enrollment
management. “This program reflects the promise we make to students and families: that
cost should not stand in the way of talent, potential or purpose.”
The program is renewable for up to 10 consecutive semesters, provided students continue
to meet income and aid requirements and remain in good academic standing. Participants
will also be required to live on campus, a factor widely linked to academic success
and retention.
While there is no limit to the number of students who may qualify, SLU will guarantee
funding for eligible students who submit their deposit by May 1, the traditional national
college decision deadline. After that date, awards will be made based on available
funds. Full program details and eligibility requirements are available on the SLU financial aid website.
The SLU Tuition Promise adds to the University’s broader efforts to expand college
access and affordability. SLU recently committed nearly $3 million in new scholarships
for local students pursuing undergraduate degrees in education, social work and criminal
justice, and expects all first-year students enrolling this fall to receive some form
of scholarship or financial assistance.
