Undergraduate Academic Multimedia Writing Contest Deadline Extended

University Writing Services and the Office of the Provost remind students about the Undergraduate Multimedia Writing Contest. The contest deadline (originally Dec. 16) has been extended to Tuesday, Dec. 20.

The contest gives students the chance to win $500 for having done their homework. Students win by demonstrating how they have accomplished the University's Undergraduate Learning Outcomes.

Students submit a portfolio of three to six existing assignments, pieces of writing or multimedia presentations. They can also create a new piece of writing or multimedia presentation if they believe that will be more reflective of their learning.

This fall, the contest focuses on ways SLU students have demonstrated solidarity with and for others locally, nationally and globally. This is one of the four categories organizing the Undergraduate Learning Outcomes.

Each of the assignments, pieces of writing or multimedia presentations will require a brief description, a cover letter reflecting on the "artifact" and a list of the learning outcomes met. All submissions must be uploaded to the student’s University Academic Multimedia Writing Contest portfolio page by midnight on the new deadline of Tuesday, Dec. 20.

All submissions must be at least four double-spaced, written pages, or five minutes of a recorded presentation. Submissions must also be no more than 15 double-spaced, written pages, or 15 minutes of a recorded presentation.

This contest is sponsored by the Office of the Provost and University Writing Services, which is housed in the Student Success Center. Email questions to the director of University Writing Services, Alex Wulff, at wulffam@slu.edu or 314-977-4302.
