Parenting and Autism Study Seeks Participants

07/06/2017

A student study in SLU's Applied Behavioral Analysis program exploring how parental involvement impacts treatment for children with autism is seeking parents and guardians to volunteer.

Volunteers must be older than 18 and must be the parent or guardian of a child diagnosed with autism.

The study involves interviews with parents and guardians, functional analysis and an individualized behavioral intervention plan.

The study duration per volunteer is approximately three to five hours over two sessions. The initial session will last between two and three hours. A follow-up session will last about one and a half to two hours. Participants will receive $50 in compensation. Study participants may not benefit from the study directly. The study's possible benefits include insight into why a child may engage in challenging behaviors and learning options for how to respond to such behaviors.

Those interested in take part in the study should contact Tyler Glassford at 314-977-2023 or email glassford@slu.edu. Glassford is advised by Alyssa Wilson, Ph.D. The IRB protocol number for the study is 27504.
