Twilight Retreat Set to Honor the Coming of Advent

11/07/2017

The SLU community can bring in the Advent season with an evening of reflection, “Into Life’s Ordinariness, God Comes,” with Dave Meconi, S.J., D. Phil., assistant professor in the Department of Theological Studies, on Thursday, Dec. 7, from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at the Manresa Center.

The Advent twilight retreat will focus on the season as “a time of waiting alongside Mary, the Mother of God.”

“The Lord is about to appear in the ordinariness of a human family, of a world of matter and money, of politics and play,” Meconi said in describing the retreat. “St. Ignatius’ ‘Meditation on the Incarnation’ provides a unique moment in the history of the Church, allowing us still today to ‘sit’ with Mary as the Almighty does great things for us.”

The evening opens with a simple meal at 5 p.m. The evening will include input by Meconi and time for personal and communal prayer.

The retreat costs $5 to attend and registration is required. Registration closes on Tuesday, Dec. 5. To register, visit the Office of Mission and Identity.

The evening is sponsored by the Office of Mission and Identity.  For more information or questions, call 314-977-7065.
