GSA Offering Ways to Beat Finals Stress

11/20/2017

As SLU students hunker down to finish papers and prepare for exams in the lead up to the fall finals period this December, the Graduate Student Association (GSA) is offering a wide array of wellness activities aimed at helping students relax and re-focus.

The annual GSA Wellness Week runs from Thursday, Dec. 7, to Friday, Dec. 8.

The Thursday activities in the Allied Health Building’s Multipurpose Room include all-day stations to make holiday cards; create DIY aromatherapy stress putty; opportunities try adult coloring books; and friendship bracelet making. Those relaxation stations run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Thursday also includes free chair massages from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., a free lunch from noon to 1 p.m. and de-stress art class from 1 to 2 p.m. Free flu shots will also be available from noon to 12:30 p.m. and appointment sign-ups are offered here.

A blood drive to benefit Mercy Hospital will take place on Friday, Dec. 8, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Room 251A, Busch Student Center. Sign up to be a donor is available. Donors will receive a free t-shirt.

Other Friday wellness activities include relaxation stations from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. where students can make their own trail mix or play board games. Wellness handouts and information will be offered. The handouts and relaxation stations will be set up in Room 253, Busch Student Center. Room 253 will also play host to free chair massages between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., de-stress art class from 11 a.m. to noon, and a cooking demonstration including free samples at 2 p.m.

The GSA is also offering an Argentine tango class from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Simon Recreation Center’s Multipurpose Room 1.
