Academic Tech Commons Opens for Previews

The new Academic Tech Commons (ATC) will be open for a preview beginning at 8 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 6. The SLU community is invited to stop by throughout the week to see the new technology enriched space. There will also be opportunities to talk to team members from both the University Libraries and Information Technology Services (ITS) about the new technologies and support that will be available, to study or meet in some of the new seating areas and collaboration rooms and to get creative in one of the idea labs.

ATC team members and the commons’ vendor support teams will be working throughout the week putting final touches on some of the technologies, setting up some recently delivered furniture and working to get ready for the grand opening. 

A grand opening ceremony will be held at noon on Tuesday, Nov. 14.

The ATC is a new concept located in the Pius XII Memorial Library designed to provide access to the latest technologies, innovative spaces and a collaborative support structure.  It was designed by team members from Pius Library and ITS in collaboration with the Student Government Association, Design and Construction and various student, faculty, and staff focus groups.
