10/27/2017

SLU’s Office of International Services hosted the 2017-2018 Host Family Kickoff event on Thursday, Oct. 26, with host families made up of University families greeting the 64 students they will welcome into their lives during this academic year. Thirty-seven alumni, faculty and staff members are taking part in this year’s program.

The non-live-in program matches SLU faculty, staff and alumni with SLU international students as a way of connecting students a family to share meals and explorations of the St. Louis area with as well as providing students with a support and advocacy network during their time at SLU.

The program has been in place for the last five years. Events are typically scheduled monthly for families and students to come together and both hosts and students are encouraged to spend time together over coffee, dinner, on outings and other activities on their own time as well.
