Women's Soccer Needs Fans to Help Break Record

09/07/2017

The Billikens need fan help to beat their own record for highest attendance at a Missouri collegiate women's soccer game when they take on the Kansas Jayhawks on Sept. 8. Discounted tickets for the 7 p.m. game are available to SLU faculty and staff for $5 with promo code Billikens.

SLU holds the current record for highest attendance at a Missouri women's collegiate soccer home game. The Billikens set that record in September 2000 in play against the Jayhawks. At that game, on Sept. 1, 2000, 2,768 cheered the Billikens at Robert P. Hermann Stadium.

Friday's game is also the Saint Louis University Department of Athletics' Youth Soccer Night. Admission to the game is free for all players age 14 and under who wear their club jersey to the game. Young players can take part in a pregame "high five" line to welcome the Billikens to the field and a postgame autograph session will be held.

The first 400 SLU students attending the game will receive a Billiken women's soccer t-shirt.

SLU's women enter the Sept. 8 game undefeated in six matches to date. The Jayhawks, ranked at No. 19, are 5-1. In their last match, the Billikens beat the Missouri State Bears 3-0 on Sept. 3.

The SLU team's 6-0 start is the best in program history and is part of a school-record 13-game winning streak. SLU currently leads the Atlantic Conference and ranks among the top 25 teams in the nation in shutouts, goals against average, points per game, assists per game, goals per game and corner kicks per game.
