Renowned Botanist to Give Dwyer Lecture

Thomas Croat, Ph.D., an internationally noted scientist, will deliver the Department of Biology’s annual John Dwyer Public Lecture in Biology at 4 p.m. on Friday April 27, in the auditorium of the Missouri Botanical Garden. He is known for his prodigious plant collection history.

Croat, of the Missouri Botanical Garden, was one of the late John Dwyer's most respected colleagues and old friends. His talk is titled, “The Philodendron Family (Araceae), Diverse Interesting and Still Growing.” He will discuss high points in the last 50 years of his research on aroids and why the country of Colombia may have more species in this family than are currently known for the entire world.
