Law School Hosting Health Law Symposium

04/03/2018

Saint Louis University School of Law's Center for Health Law Studies will host its 30th annual symposium from 9 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. on Friday, April 6.

The free symposium, "Public Health Law in the Era of Alternative Facts, Isolationism, and the One Percent," will take place in the John K. Pruellage Courtroom, Scott Hall, and will feature health law scholars from across the country.

Broad shifts in U.S. policy under President Donald Trump affect population health well beyond the repeal of the Affordable Care Act's tax-penalty. How do we pursue population health in a political regime suspect of or even hostile to scientific evidence? In an environment that accommodates racial and economic disparities, is health equity possible? The symposium will explore these and other questions.

The center is ranked number one in the nation.

Topics will cover addictions, insurance and payment systems, vulnerable and stigmatized populations and growing isolationism.
