University Celebrating Ignatian Heritage Week

Campus Ministry will host a number of events as SLU celebrates Ignatian Heritage Week beginning Sunday, Feb. 4. The week highlights the richness of the University’s tradition as a Jesuit, Catholic institution. The week will conclude on Monday, Feb. 12.

This year, Campus Ministry is partnering with the Bellarmine House of Studies, the Center for Service and Community Engagement and the Office of Mission and Identity to put on the week’s programs.

Week's Events

 Tuesday, Feb. 6

Trivia Night with the Jesuits, 7-9 p.m., Center for Global Citizenship. Teams and individuals are welcome at the free event which will feature food and prizes.

Thursday, Feb. 8

Karla Scott, Ph.D., associate professor and assistant dean for diversity and inclusion in the College of Arts and Sciences, will read a famed sermon by Claude Heithaus, S.J. denouncing racial prejudice at Saint Louis University that Heithaus delivered in February 1944. Friday, Feb. 9
  • Java with the Jesuits, 8:30 a.m., Lipic Clocktower Plaza, or, in case of bad weather, the Richard A. Chaifetz School of Business.
  • Jesuit Vocation Stories, noon to 1 p.m., St. Francis Xavier College Church Ballroom. Jesuit scholastics Michael Mohr, S.J., and Bill McCormick, S.J., and Jesuits Christopher Collins, S.J., assistant to the president for mission and identity, Steve Schoenig, SJ, associate professor of history, and John Apel, S.J., will tell their vocation stories. Lunch is provided.  No RSVP necessary.
