Volunteers Needed for Women's Leadership Study

02/09/2018

A research study, “Pathways of Leader Self-Efficacy for Women in Higher Education,” is seeking participants from female SLU students, faculty and staff members.

The purpose of this study is to assess the level of leadership self-efficacy of females – faculty, staff and students – within a higher education environment and to seek to understand the perception of leadership, leadership potential and barriers to professional advancement.

This study is being conducted by a team of collaborators including Chris Sebelski, Ph.D., Lisa Dorsey, Ph.D., Vicki Moran, Ph.D., and Jessica Perolio, Ph.D. The study is funded by the SLU Women’s Commission and the SLU Faculty Senate.

Participation in the study will involve completing an online survey about a participant’s leadership self-efficacy and participation in a semi-structured interview. The online survey will take less than 10 minutes to complete. The semi-structured interview will take about 30 minutes. Participants will have the opportunity to review the transcript for content which could take about 30 minutes.

Those taking part in the study will be compensated with a gift card.

Risks to participants are minimal and steps have been taken to ensure confidentiality. The names, titles and identities of those participating in the study will be coded for anonymity using a unique system. Participation in the study is voluntary. Participants are free to decline to answer any question that they do not wish to answer for any reason and participants may withdraw from the study at any time.

For questions, to participate or for more information, contact Chris Sebelski, Ph.D., or call 314-977-8724.

The Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocol number for the study is #28359. The protocol was approved on July 6, 2017. The study is led by the team described above.
