Application Period Open for Reinert Center Innovative Teaching Fellowship

The Paul C. Reinert, S.J., Center for Transformative Teaching and Learning has announced the next call for applications for the Innovative Teaching Fellowship. The fellowship prepares and supports faculty for teaching in Saint Louis University’s Learning Studio, a highly-flexible, technology-rich experimental classroom.

Full-time, permanent teaching faculty members at Saint Louis University are eligible to apply.

The competitive, two-semester fellowship provides either a $3,200.00 stipend or funding to cover a one-course reduction in teaching in order to support course (re)design and instructional development activities during the semester prior to teaching in the Learning Studio, and classroom and ongoing instructional development support during the semester of teaching in the Learning Studio.

The course development phase of the fellowship in semester one includes participating in weekly meetings with a Reinert Center Instructional Developer; creating and/or revising course documents; and submitting a mid-term and end-of-term report on progress.

The teaching phase of the fellowship in the second semester includes teaching the course in the Learning Studio; continued contact with the Reinert Center Instructional Developer; and sharing one’s fellowship experience with the larger SLU community.

The next call for applications is for the following fellowship period:

• Course Development (semester one): Fall 2018
• Course Teaching (semester two): Spring 2019

Faculty who wish to apply must complete all stages of the application process as described below, including:

• Attend a Pre-Application Information Session.
• Secure approval from both their department chair/program director and dean.
•  Submit a complete application no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 23, 2018.

Information Sessions will be held on the following dates in Room 213, Des Peres Hall:

• Wednesday, Jan. 31, 8:30-9:30 a.m., Room 213, Des Peres Hall.
• Thursday, Feb. 1, noon-1 p.m., Room 213, Des Peres Hall.
• Tuesday, Feb. 6, 4:00-5:00 p.m., Room 213, Des Peres Hall.
