January Security Patches to Install Next Week

January’s security patches will be sent to all University PCs on Monday, Jan. 15, and will automatically install after 4 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 19. The patches are for Microsoft Windows.

Users who wish to install the updates for themselves can find step-by-step instructions on the Information Technology Services (ITS) Webpage. Updates must be applied before 4 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19, otherwise, ITS will install them for everyone at that time. The updates are meant to help protect PCs from vulnerabilities and to guard against viruses.

Updates do not apply until the computer is rebooted, so users should restart their computer on Jan. 19. ITS recommends restarting computers a few times a week.
