Donation Drive on for Recovering DPS Officer

07/25/2018

A member of the Department of Public Safety recently received a kidney transplant after years of waiting, but has exhausted his sick leave and vacation balances. His fellow officers have launched a donation drive through a GoFundMe account to assist him and his family.

Officer Brian Marble had been awaiting a transplant and undergoing dialysis for several years before receiving his new kidney at SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital. Marble has been with SLU for 13 years and was treated by SLUCare physicians.

His co-workers initiated the drive – a first for DPS – to help him and his family with living expenses until he is able to return to the SLU beat. The department has helped its own in the past, when members have passed away, and has also helped other causes including a homeless family that the department worked with to

The GoFundMe account is currently the only drive underway but DPS may hold other events to benefit the drive in the future.
