Bone Marrow Registry Drive Today to Aid SLU Student

03/22/2018

A bone marrow donor registry drive is set from noon to 3 p.m. on Friday, March 23, in Room 1040, Allied Health Professions Building, for a SLU student who is battling two blood disorders.

The student's doctors are currently seeking a match on the Be The Match Registry, a national bone marrow donor registry.

Matches are based on a donor’s race and DNA, not blood type.

To participate in the March 23 drive, donors must be between the ages of 18 and 44. Participation involves a cheek swab and takes about 15 minutes to join the registry. Those who cannot attend the drive in person can join online and request that a swab kit be mailed to them.

For questions or more information, contact Denise Mosley, community engagement representative, Be The Match Registry.
