School for Professional Studies Hosting 'Billiken Bash'

03/06/2018

The School for Professional Studies (SPS) will host its annual “Billiken Bash,” a week-long event aimed at encouraging students to plan and register for classes beginning on Monday, March 12.

Once a year, academic advisers at the School for Professional Studies (SPS) announce next year’s course schedule and encourage students to plan and register for classes. One week in March is dedicated to this task, spurring students to plan an entire year’s course schedule.

The SPS Billiken Bash runs through Friday, March 16. Students are encouraged to meet with their academic advisor in-person, on the phone or electronically via email and to set up a course schedule that would map out the classes they will take for the following year.

“We wanted to give students the ability to make a year’s schedule of classes a simple and easy experience,” Debra Blanquart, senior academic advisor at SPS said. “With the SPS Billiken Bash, students are given the opportunity to have a set of classes they want to take so that come registration day, they are ready to sign up for the classes they want.”

Those that take advantage of this opportunity to get ahead of the game in planning class schedules will be entered to win SLU swag. Winners will be announced on social media through Facebook and Twitter.

Academic advisers at SPS will have office hours at Brouster Hall from Monday, March 12 through Friday, March 16, to help students set up an academic plan for the 2018-19 year.
