National Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association Conference is Oct. 6

The Saint Louis University School of Medicine and Washington University St. Louis School of Medicine Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association (APAMSA) will co-host this year's national APAMSA conference.

The conference will be held Oct. 6 at Washington University St. Louis School of Medicine.

The goal of the conference is to connect pre-health and health students across the country in addressing and analyzing a variety of health topics both socioeconomically and culturally pertinent to the Asian American-Pacific Islander community (AAPI).

This year, the national conference looks to shine the spotlight on the discussion of health equity and, specifically, the responsibility of AAPIs as a minority in a bi-racially divided society.

Traditionally, part of the conference includes Pre-Med Day, an all-day event where undergraduates and individuals interested in applying to medical school come to learn more about the medical school admissions process and hear advice from current medical students. This year’s pre-med sessions will include speaker led sessions on extracurricular opportunities, a medical school admissions panel led by members of the SLU and WashU School of Medicine admissions committees and mock interview workshops.

The cost of attendance would be $30-35. Please visit the website for tickets and more information.

As a co-hosting school, SLU students can get a discounted rate of $20. Use the promo code "WASHUMED"  when registering with a SLU email address (@health.slu.edu).
