Homecoming Events to Affect Traffic, Parking Options

Restrictions will apply to some campus garage and parking lots. Traffic will also be impacted by Saturday’s closing of Grand from Forest Park Expressway to Lindell.

At 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29, Grand Boulevard will be closed to all vehicle traffic north of Laclede Avenue to Lindell Boulevard.

Beginning at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29 the Grand Boulevard closure will extend southbound to Forest Park Parkway. Also beginning at 8 a.m., access to Laclede Avenue, east of Spring Avenue will be restricted. SLU students parking in Laclede Garage, LeMoyne Parking Lot and Saint Peter’s Parking Lot will be granted access with a valid SLU ID.

College Church guests and guests attending the VIP event at Grand Celebration will also be given access to Laclede Avenue, as well as Homecoming and Family Weekend trolleys and shuttles. Grand Boulevard and Laclede Avenue will be fully open to through traffic at 4 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 30. 

Additionally, the following buildings and parking options will have limited access: 

Laclede Avenue Parking Meters: Street parking on Laclede Avenue. will be prohibited east of Spring Avenue from 12 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 28 through 4 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 30. 

LeMoyne Parking Lot and Saint Peter’s Parking Lot (residential lots for Marchetti Towers and Grand Forest Apartments): Due to the Grand Boulevard closure at Forest Park Parkway, LeMoyne and Saint Peter’s Parking Lots will only be accessible via Laclede Avenue., beginning at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29. Residents parking in these lots must present a valid student ID at Spring Avenue and Laclede Avenue. for parking access. 

Grand Hall: At 8 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29, entry at Laclede Avenue and Spring Avenue will be restricted to guests parking in Laclede Garage. The Grand Hall driveway and loop will be closed to vehicle traffic. 

St. Francis Xavier College Church: Guests attending events and Mass at College Church can park in Laclede Garage. A temporary drop-off lane will be created at the southwest corner of Lindell Boulevard and Grand Boulevard for wedding parties, service providers, parishioners and guests with limited mobility attending the 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. weddings and 5:30 p.m. Mass.

Laclede Garage: On Saturday, Sept.29, parking will be available for residents, College Church events and limited SLU sponsored events. Due to the street closure, parking in Olive Compton is strongly recommended for all Homecoming and Family Weekend guests.
