SLU Partners with YWCA to 'Stand Against Racism'

On Friday, April 26, SLU is partnering with the YWCA to host “Stand Against Racism: No Hate. No Fear.” The event will run from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Lipic Clock Tower.

The event is part of the YWCA national campaign emphasizing the centrality of immigrant justice to racial justice.

The Peace Poets from New York and the Justice Fleet will be the main guests at the event and will showcase creative expressions related to welcoming immigrants and standing against racism.

Young people from Urb Arts and other art venues have also been invited. 

University partners is hosting the event include the Department of Campus Ministry, the Student Involvement Center, the Center for Service and Community Engagement, the Office of International Services, Sigma Gamma Rho, the African American Studies Program, the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, the Center for Global Citizenship, the  Office of Diversity and Community Engagement and Global Brigades.

Community partners include the YWCA Metro St. Louis, the Interfaith Committee on Latin America, Missouri Immigrant and Refugee Advocates, the Migrant and Immigrant Community Action Project, the International Institute of Saint Louis, the Peace and Justice Commission of the Archdiocese of St. Louis and the North St. Louis Arts Council.
