Bake Sale to Benefit Catholic Worker Home

02/26/2019

A group of SLU students are hosting a bake sale to benefit Karen House, a Catholic Worker shelter and center that provides rooms for unhoused guests in the St. Louis area. The sale will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, March 1, in Busch Student Center.

Student bakers have whipped up chocolate chip cookies, pumpkin bread, gluten-free cookies and vegan chocolate cupcakes to raise funds to support a Karen House Service Day on Saturday, April 13, and for the house’s general needs.

Karen House serves clients, mainly women and children, by providing housing and meals, a clothing closet and sandwich outreach program.

The students hosting the sale regularly serve at Karen House on Friday evenings, helping to cook dinner for its guests.

The sale is sponsored by the Center for Service and Community Engagement.
