Language Heritage Study Seeks Volunteers

01/22/2019

A current senior, Maddie Reilly, in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders is conducting a year-long research study examining parental experiences of being bilingual and perspectives in raising children bilingually.

The study has grown out of the student’s Spanish minor and interest in the Hispanic population in the United States and the experiences individuals have in maintaining their heritage language practices. The student’s goal is to learn more about multicultural populations in order to better serve individuals of different cultures in therapy.

The study seeks research participants who are Hispanic, bilingual, Spanish-English-speaking parents who wish to share their experiences of being bilingual and those of raising their children to become bilingual as well.
