Minority Scholars in Religion Conference Set

03/05/2019

The Minority Scholars in Religion Conference will be held from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, and will feature doctoral student Marlon Millner as its keynote speaker.

Millner teaches religious studies at Northwestern University where he is pursuing a doctorate in the field. His dissertation focuses on Pentecostalism as a transnational diasporic movement. Millner holds a master’s in divinity degree from Harvard University.

His work focuses on the intersection of political and constructive theology, African-American and black diaspora studies and contemporary theory. Broadly, he is interested in theology's discursive constitution of modernity as anti-blackness, and therefore the black sacred, including expressions of AfroChristianities as excessive to, and not constituted by theology.

Conference will take place in the Pere Marquette Gallery, DuBourg Hall.
