As You Move Out, Don’t Throw It Out!

Saint Louis University's Trash-to-Treasure move-out program is being reimagined with a new name and a new mission. Rather than donate items to an external entity, as in previous years, the newly formed Billiken 2 Billiken (B2B) program aims to create an impact closer to home by redistributing donated items back to students through an on-campus resale store set to open in this fall.

The Billiken 2 Billiken store will offer these gently used items to students free and at affordable prices. The B2B program is an opportunity to reduce the environmental impact of campus move-out by redirecting usable items from landfill dumpsters to resale shelves. Any proceeds received from the sale of the donated goods will benefit sustainability efforts on campus.

Help those microwaves, refrigerators, small appliances, futons and household accessories end up as useful items for a new crew of Billikens. Clothing, food (non-perishable), hygiene items and cleaning supplies will also be accepted and will be donated to homeless shelters, pet shelters and food banks. Unused items will be available in the B2B store when it opens in the fall.

Donation tents can be found in the following locations:

Donations will be collected Wednesday, May 8, to Friday, May 17.  Volunteers are needed to help with donation collection. For more information or to sign up, contact Amy Hargis at amy.hargis@slu.edu
