Saint Louis University Begins Intranet Project

Preliminary work is underway to implement an intranet for Saint Louis University. The project follows a more than two-year-long migration of slu.edu and will allow internally facing content and resources to be available to the SLU community.

“ITS received requests from multiple divisions last year as part of our capital project planning process for a tool that could allow divisions to post important documents and information intended for internal use that did not make sense to make available on the public website,” said Kyle Collins, assistant vice president for technology transformation.

ITS is in the process of working with stakeholders to gather requirements which will determine an implementation timeline, but at this point those leading the project expect it to go live sometime in the fall semester.

The intranet will supplement — not replace — the OU Campus content management system that houses the externally facing portions of SLU's website.

At this time, the intranet will be a resource for SLU administrative divisions and the Office of the Provost. Each vice president is being asked to appoint a representative to work with his or her unit to decide what content is appropriate for the intranet and what would remain on slu.edu, Collins said.

Along with leadership from ITS, vice presidents from each SLU administrative division have appointed a representative to be part of planning and deployment.
