SLU Showcases Ways to Give: Billiken Bounty

by Jeff Ackels

Billiken Bounty, a free on-campus food resource that seeks to alleviate food insecurity among SLU students, is seeking non-perishable food and volunteers for both winter break and the spring semester.

Billiken Bounty

Since opening in September 2018, Billiken Bounty has been serving up nonperishable food items as well as hygiene and self-care products in Busch Student Center. Shoppers don’t have to demonstrate need and can come and go anonymously. All that is required to access Billiken Bounty’s stores is a SLU photo ID.

Billiken Bounty will be closed during Thanksgiving Break, but students can access the pantry by calling DPS. The food pantry is in need of volunteers over winter break for students who remain near campus. Adjusted hours have not yet been set. Contact billikenbounty@slu.edu to volunteer.

Billiken Bounty is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday; from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Fridays; and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.

Billiken Bounty accepts donations year-round. Those interested in giving can bring food donations to the Dean of Students Office in Busch Student Center, Room 356; place donations in the bins around campus, located in Wuller Hall, Campus Ministry (North Campus), Doisy Research Building and Learning Resources Center (South Campus) or make a monetary donations through this link.
