Career Services Offers Virtual Events Series This Fall

08/18/2020

As Billikens return to campus to start the new semester, team members from the Career Resources Center and Office of Career Services have created career-related events for students during the fall term. In response to COVID-19, these career events will be delivered virtually.

Students can locate additional programs, presentations, videos and other career related material by visiting Handshake, SLU’s online career database.

A Summer Shift to Prepare for Fall

The fall series builds on successful virtual events held this past summer, and upon new resources Career Services staff developed to connect students, alumni and potential employers. This past July, Career Services hosted two virtual town hall meetings for the University’s employer partners. Eighty-three employer representatives attended these meetings, receiving an overview of SLU’s services and events.

Career Services also provided two separate dates for employers to learn more about managing and scheduling Virtual Fairs in the Handshake platform. Virtual fair training is also available to students who are planning to attend a virtual career fair this fall.

“Our goals were to make the transition to these virtual fairs easier for our employers and, despite the current crisis, create viable opportunities for our students to secure internships and full-time opportunities,” Jeffery Jackson, associate provost for career development, said.

What’s New for Billikens This Fall?

Students will have the opportunity to attend one of two virtual fair training sessions via Zoom on Tuesday, Aug. 25, or Thursday, Aug. 27.

Students can use the links below to register for the Zoom meeting of their choice. These trainings will also be recorded and available to students throughout the fall semester on Handshake.
