Simon Rec Center Closing, Freezing Memberships, Payroll Deductions

03/17/2020

In a message to the SLU community on Tuesday, March 13, the Department of Campus Recreation and Wellness announced the closure of the Simon Recreation Center until further notice.

The Message

SLU's rec center is closed indefinitely as of Tuesday, March 17.

This careful decision has been made with the health of the SLU community in mind and as a precautionary measure intended to reduce the potential for the spread of the virus.

We will continue to monitor and will communicate plans for resuming operations as decisions for doing so are made.  Below is some information surrounding Frequently Asked Questions surrounding membership/programming.

Memberships

During this indefinite closure, all non-student memberships to the Simon Recreation Center will be frozen until our operations resume. Once operations resume, memberships will be extended for the duration of the suspension.

For SLU faculty and staff members utilizing Payroll Deduction, all deductions will freeze as of Tuesday, March 17, 2020. Deductions for membership will resume once operations resume for those members wanting to restart their membership.

For specific questions or concerns regarding membership, please contact Samantha McLeod.

In the Meantime

While we are not planning to replace all of our in-person programs and services, we want to continue to encourage the well-being of our community, especially during this stressful time.

To accomplish this we will be providing online resources that promote health and encourage movement.

Please follow our social media accounts (@SLUrecandwellness) for the latest updates and virtual offerings.

We love our SLU community. Thank you for your patience and support. We’re grateful for each of you and are looking forward to having everyone back on campus.
