SLUCare Physicians Take Lymphedema Microsurgery Questions from Viewers
For the first time, SLUCare physicians participated in a Facebook Live event following The Science of Healing, allowing viewers to ask questions about lymphedema and the specialized microsurgery options available through SLUCare plastic surgeons.
On Tuesday, March 3, the latest episode of SLUCare’s The Science of Healing: Lymphedema Microsurgery , aired on KMOV-TV Ch. 4.
Following the episode, SLUCare plastic surgeons Kyle Xu, M.D., and Bruce Kraemer, M.D., participated in a Facebook Live session hosted by KMOV’s Matt Chambers.
The question and answer session reached 17,700 people and garnered more than 100 comments from people with questions about lymphedema and microsurgery.
Xu is among the first in the Midwest to offer microsurgery options for patients with lymphedema. Lymphedema is a chronic, progressive condition that produces swelling and inflammation in limbs that cannot properly circulate lymphatic fluid. Over time, fat and scar tissue may form, creating an oversized limb that can be painful and difficult to manage.
