“I want to thank Doug for his leadership and contributions in managing a host of important projects,” said University President Fred P. Pestello, Ph.D. “He has successfully led a variety of successful initiatives that required strong collaboration among a variety of SLU stakeholders. In each case, Doug led with his wealth of experience and calm demeanor that was appreciated by all he worked with.”

Originally tapped to co-lead the University’s Operational Excellence Program, Williams most recently has worked on a variety of special projects as a special assistant to the president. He is currently chairing the search committee for the next vice president of student development. Four finalists have been identified for the position and the next vice president is expected to be named before the end of the calendar year.

Williams has been a distinguished faculty member in the School of Law since 1991, specializing in environmental law. He also was President of the Faculty Senate from 2015-2017.

“I have enjoyed my time working on projects that help further the strategic goals of the University,” Williams said. “While the work has been both exciting and challenging, I look forward to returning full-time to the School of Law, and to working with my law school colleagues and our outstanding students next fall.”
