Gender Non-conformity in the Classroom: Trans and Non-Binary Experiences at SLU
Every student benefits from acceptance and inclusion in the classroom and in advising. This can mean different things for different students, due to factors from race to socio-economic background to disability.
What does it mean for trans and for non-binary students to have recognition and voice? What role can cisgender classmates and faculty play in creating a safe and equitable classroom space?
The Department of Women's and Gender Studies will host a panel discussion, "Gender Non-conformity in the Classroom: Trans and Non-binary Experiences at SLU" at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, via Zoom.
In this panel discussion, three trans and/or non-binary students and one ally discuss their experiences in the SLU classroom; two faculty members add their thoughts about faculty responsibilities and opportunities. A Q&A period will follow the short presentations.
