14th Annual Senior Legacy Symposium Starts May 3

04/27/2021

The Senior Legacy Symposium is Saint Louis University's annual celebration of undergraduate research, creative work, and mission-inspired community practice. The 14th annual Senior Legacy Symposium, which is sponsored by the Division of Academic Affairs and coordinated by the University Honors Program, will be held in a virtual format during the week of May 3.

Earlier this year, all departments/programs were invited to nominate up to three students/groups to be featured in this year's symposium. Over 50 departments/programs put forth names, with more than 100 projects identified for the Symposium. Although the celebration will look different this year, the spirit of the Symposium will remain intact.

The University Honors Program has created an online environment for graduating seniors to share their culminating academic achievements with the Saint Louis University community. Students chose among several options for sharing their work for "on-demand" viewing" ⏤ recording a video or audio presentation, submitting a static document that will be hosted on the Symposium website, or simply sharing an abstract of their work.

The Senior Legacy Symposium website will be unveiled Monday, May 3. Nominated students also had the option of participating in a series of live, interdisciplinary conversations held via Zoom webinars during the week of May 3. These panels are intended as an enrichment to the website and an attempt to recreate some of the scholarly exchanges we would normally see during an in-person event.

More than 40 students/groups indicated interest, leading to a full slate of panels on the following days. Panels will be Tuesday, May 4, Wednesday, May 6, and Thursday, May 6. Panels will be from 5 to 6 p.m. each day.

All webinars will be recorded and added to the Senior Legacy Symposium website for future viewing. The University Honors Program, on behalf of the Division of Academic Affairs, looks forward to celebrating students’ accomplishments through the website and the live panels in just over a week.
