Summer Break 2021 Virtual Graduate Student Writing Retreat Starts June 28

06/08/2021

University Writing Services is offering a free virtual writing retreat for all graduate students this summer. It will start Monday, June 28, and run through Wednesday, June 30. The retreat will be held on Zoom.

This two-and-a-half-day retreat will increase graduate students' writing accountability when working remotely and/or in isolation. The facilitator will discuss different timed writing activities and provide content aimed to increase productivity while cultivating strong, disciplined writing habits. Participants will learn new motivational strategies to combat procrastination especially during the summer months.

Attendees are encouraged to join and write in a quiet, structured environment alongside other scholars. The retreat is designed for anyone seeking progress towards the completion of their seminar paper, thesis, dissertation, publication, and/or fellowship application.

Registration for the event is required.  The first 20 registrants will have the opportunity to schedule a one-on-one appointment and receive live or asynchronous feedback from an experienced writing consultant during the retreat. This is particularly helpful for graduate students who are behind on their project or who want to maximize their break and get ahead.
