New campus map kiosks are being installed around the St. Louis campus. When installation is finished, the north campus will have 15 kiosks. Five are being installed on the south campus.

Of the 20 new kiosks, 11 are set for new locations. The north campus will now have nine new kiosks and the south campus will have two new kiosks. The new kiosks are placed strategically around campus so visitors can find their way around from any entrance.

The other nine kiosks are replacing previous maps.

Matt Krob, director of design services, worked with the Division of Facilities Services to plot the new locations, and the facilities team managed the installation.

"Our colleagues in facilities ensured that the new kiosks were lit and well placed," Krob said. "It was a very collaborative process."

The kiosks sport a new design as well.

“In addition to the maps themselves, the new kiosks also feature callouts to popular campus locations and a QR code that can link to the mobile version of the map,” Krob said.

In addition to containing more information, the vertical kiosks also offer a practical benefit.

“They offer enhanced durability from the elements,” Krob said.

The old campus maps were more susceptible to water and sun damage, Krob said, due to their horizontal shape. In addition to better durability, the new designs are “more consistent with university branding and more noticeable for our campus community and visitors to SLU.”
