Google Sites Classic Final Farewell Set for January 30

12/13/2022

On Monday, Jan. 30, 2023, Google will turn off the ability to edit any existing Classic Google Sites. These will remain viewable until they are automatically converted to the New Google Sites.

Many faculty members have used Google Sites to create supplemental resources for courses over the years. With Canvas as SLU's LMS, the user interface is much more inviting and provides easier ways to organize and present such resources.

Faculty with questions regarding transferring or migrating this content can reach out to facsupport@slu.edu. And faculty who have any questions regarding the pedagogical impact of their content location and/or migration should feel free to reach out to the Reinert Center for Transformative Teaching and Learning at cttl@slu.edu.

As stated above, all Classic Google Sites eventually will be automatically converted into New Google Sites. Google will begin that process on January 30, 2023. However, sites created based on a particular look and feel may not convert as intended. It is best to migrate content proactively so that these issues may be addressed before the new site is visible to others.

For more information about this migration and for other support resources, feel free to read this Knowledge Base article in our system.
