Enrollment Management Division Announces Transition to New Customer Relationship Management System

12/16/2022

With support from the President, Provost, deans and Information Technology Services, the Enrollment Management Division has announced a transition to a new integrated customer relationship management (CRM) system.

Launching in August 2023 for the fall 2024 enrollment cycle, undergraduate admissions and graduate admissions (excluding Med and Law) will migrate from Salesforce or any other CRM/CMT system to Slate by Technolutions.

“We have experienced significant growth over the last several years,” said Kathleen Davis, Vice President for Enrollment Management. "Every area responsible for the recruitment and enrollment of students has stepped up to be more proactive in responding to the needs of future and current students. As a result, the time has come for us to pivot to a system that reflects the more sophisticated business needs of each area which ultimately will transform Saint Louis University to the next level of the enrollment growth plan.”

A current challenge among the many SLU enrollment partners is the diversity of CRM systems that have been purchased and implemented.

“The complexity of operating multiple systems with various partners presents challenges supporting business processes and maintaining strategic engagement," said Jean Marie Cox, Assistant Vice President of Undergraduate Admissions. "We all want to be on a cohesive path to success."

Slate is a single-source solution for student engagement through the enrollment process, including self-service application management and seamless integration into the institutional student information system – in SLU's case Banner.  Slate comes with sophisticated communication tools and serves as a reliable database of variable information.

Prospective students seek more of a customer-based interface.  Students can manage their application process and enrollment outside regular business hours by integrating more high-level self-service.  The University’s school counseling partners will be able to interact with SLU through counselor portals for document management, promoting admission and tracking student enrollment.

Finally, the system can support managing various prospects and inquiries while diversifying communications without needing to lean on different delivery systems.

Several months of examining solution options included conversations with higher education leadership at other universities.  Many indicators pointed to Slate by Technolutions as the most viable and cost-effective opportunity.  A popular solution designed specifically for higher education, Slate has more than 1,600 college and university clients, including:

The University has hired an implementation team as experts in Slate and its business solutions.  The implementation team will work closely with all parties to review, revise, build and launch the CRM system for Saint Louis University.
