Grant Writing Workshop Will Be September 5

Blythe Janowiak, Ph.D., will present “How to apply for the Sigma Xi Grants in Aid of Research (GIAR).” This event will take place on Zoom and will be recorded. 

The event will be from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 5. The Zoom meeting ID is 993 3615 6813 and the password is 213167.

Award amounts for Sigma Xi Members range from $500 to $5,000 for graduate applicants and $500 to $2,000 for undergraduate applicants.

Award amounts for non-members, both graduate and undergraduate, are available up to $1,000.

Both members and non-members are eligible for designated funds from the National Academy of Sciences that allow for grants of up to $5,000 for astronomy research and $2,500 for vision related research.

Since 1922, the Sigma Xi Grants in Aid of Research (GIAR) program promotes scientific excellence and achievement through hands-on learning. SigmaXi strongly encourages applications from women and underrepresented minorities, including Blacks or African Americans, Hispanics or Latinx, Native Americans, Alaskan Natives, or Native Hawaiians.

GIAR application deadline for the fall cycle is Monday, Oct 1. For the spring cycle, the deadline is Friday, March 15, 2024.
