University to Mark Ash Wednesday With Masses Across Campus

Lent is a season of renewal and a time when Catholics and other Christians are invited to deepen and strengthen their relationship with God in an intentional way. 

The Department of Campus Ministry has several opportunities for the campus during Lent 2023.  

Ash Wednesday Mass Schedule

Ash Wednesday takes place on Wednesday, Feb. 22.  Masses will take place at the Law School, South Campus, and North Campus.  

Please note there will not be an 8 p.m. Mass in the Catholic Studies Chapel on Ash Wednesday. 

Lent Events

Beginning Thursday, Feb. 23. and subsequent Thursdays during Lent, Campus Ministry will host Soup for the Soul at noon. The event will feature a simple meal and reflections on peacemaking in a broken world. Soup for the Soul will be led by Johnny Zokovitch, Executive Director of Pax Christi USA and Tim Huffman,  Ph.D., Associate Professor in the SLU Department of Communication.

Beginning Thursday, Feb. 23, to Thursday, March 30, Campus Ministry will host a weekly film and discussion on finding goodness amidst great darkness. The event will be at 6:30 p.m. in Campus Ministry.

Stations of the Cross for Peace and Justice will be staked in the ground along West Pine Mall, west of Campus Ministry.  Members of the University community are invited to take some time to read and pray with these stations during Lent.  Materials are available in Campus Ministry to guide people along the path.
