Registration Open for DICE's Inaugural Black in STEM Celebration and Awards Ceremony

01/26/2023

The Division of Diversity and Innovative Community Engagement is inviting the Saint Louis University Community to the inaugural Black in STEM Celebration and Awards Ceremony on Friday, March 3, at 6 p.m. in the Center for Global Citizenship Auditorium.

Saint Louis University will host its first Black In STEM Celebration as a commemoration of the unique experiences and contributions made by Black STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) professionals. This event was created to empower Black people in STEM by fostering confidence and inspiration.

This year, the Association for the Study of African American Life and History named the national Black History Month theme, “Black Resistance.” Black Resistance details how Black people have resisted historic and ongoing oppression by finding ways to nurture and protect Black lives through voluntary emigration, nonviolence, education, literature, sports, media, and legislation/politics.

In accordance with the national theme, the keynote speaker and founder of Black Girls Do STEM, Cynthia Chapple, will address Black Resistance in STEM.
