Fraternity and Sorority Life Raises Funds for Foster + Adoptive Care Coalition

The Fraternity and Sorority Life Community held their annual Greek Week (Greekelodeon) from the week of April 11.

This year the Fraternity & Sorority Life Community selected the philanthropy Foster + Adoptive Care Coalition in the St. Louis area. The FSL Community surpassed its goal of $3,500 and raised a total of $6,645.78 for the Foster + Adoptive Care Coalition.

Foster + Adoptive Care Coalition strives to create permanency in foster children's lives by recruiting and supporting foster and adoptive families in the STL region. Foster + Adoptive Care ensures that each child in foster care has an opportunity for a healthy and successful life by providing: safe, nurturing homes and; a support system for foster and adoptive families as they fulfill the physical, mental, and emotional needs of the children in their care.

All activities during Greek Week are team based where groups compete against each other to be awarded the 2023 Greek Week Champions Trophy. Events during the 2023 Greek Week included: Dodgeball Tournaments, Nickelodeon themed Trivia, Canstruction, Penny Wars, T-Shirt Sales, Service Day, and Greek-a-palooza (dance competition).

Canstruction is a canned food drive and design competition. From this event the Fraternity & Sorority Life Community was able to partner with Billiken Bounty and donated a total of 1,772 canned goods.

The Service Day was filled with opportunities to help pack meals with Feed the Need, stock the shelves of Billiken Bounty, volunteer for a pre-teen conference called the I Am Enough Summit, and more.
