David Suwalsky, S.J., Ph.D., vice president for mission and identity, presided and
Fr. James F. Duffy, S.J., MD.,. associate dean for clinical curriculum at the SLU
School of Medicine delivered the homily.
The Mass of the Holy Spirit is a tradition at Jesuit schools and university throughout
the world. These celebrations date back to 1548, when the initial Mass was celebrated
at the first Jesuit school in Messina, Sicily.
