Art Hives Event Will Be April 5

University Counseling Center, Division of Diversity and Innovative Community Engagement and the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Art Therapy Program are teaming up to sponsor an art therapy event.

Art Hives, an open art studio, will be Friday, April 5, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. along the West Pine Mall. In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved into Center for Global Citizenship.

"This pop-up event strives to offer a welcoming and supportive space, where everyone is an artist," said Knieba Jones-Johnson, Director of the University Counseling Center.

An Art Hive is a community art studio that welcomes everyone as an artist. The open art studio is designed to promote and facilitate a sense of belonging, connection and empowerment for those wanting to use creativity as a form of self-expression.  All members of our SLU community — students, faculty and staff — are invited to attend.

Materials and facilitators from the UCC and SIUE program will be available as needed.
