The Family and Community Medicine department is hosting a job talk on Wednesday, March 27. Daniel Johnson's talk is titled, "GeoAI: A New Frontier in Healthcare and Public Health Innovation."

Daniel P. Johnson, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geography at Indiana University - Indianapolis (IU-Indianapolis), specializing in geospatial health research. With a Ph.D. in Physical Geography/Health Geography and an M.S. in Information Science/Informatics,  Johnson's research is at the forefront of exploring how extreme heat events, climate change, and urbanization impact human health; especially as they relate to social and environmental determinants.

By leveraging Geographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing technologies, and advanced statistical and GeoAI techniques, he has made significant strides in early sensing and predicting extreme heat events and their effects on vulnerable populations.

The job talk will take place at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 27, at the SLUCare Academic Pavilion. A virtual option also will be available.
