Mass and Speaker Series Continues April 12

03/25/2024

The Office of Mission and Identity will be hosting the Mass and Speaker Series exploring the Apostolic Preferences of the Society of Jesus, on Friday, April 12. The speaker is Christopher Duncan, Ph.D., a professor of political science.

The April series will focus on how Saint Louis University lives the Apostolic Preference, "Walk with the poor, the outcasts of the world, those whose dignity has been violated, in a mission of reconciliation and justice."

Duncan's most recent book, "Radical Conversion: Theorizing Catholic Citizenship in the American Liberal State". The thesis is that for America to fully realize its authentic and unique moral and political mission and secure it into the future it will need to become both more Catholic and more catholic.

Concordantly, that mission, properly understood, is nothing less than the recognition and protection of the idea of the sacredness of every individual human person and their right to flourish and realize the fullness of their particular vocation as a child of God.

To attend, RSVP by filling out the Google form or email jesuitmission@slu.edu.
