Saint Louis University has appointed Amy Bollinger as interim vice president for marketing and communications. A former senior vice president and partner at the St. Louis office of FleishmanHillard, Bollinger has nearly 30 years of experience in brand marketing, reputation management and stakeholder engagement. She began her new role at SLU on Aug. 1.
“Amy will bring strategic and operational experience to her marketing and communications conversations with University vice presidents, deans, faculty and staff,” said SLU President Edward Feser, Ph.D. “She also brings an impressive record of collaborative, team-focused leadership to her work in the division.”
Bollinger joined FleishmanHillard — a leading global PR and marketing agency — in 1996 as an intern. During her time there, she led integrated strategic communications programs for corporate, nonprofit and higher education clients with an emphasis on purpose-driven initiatives that advance health, safety and community well-being.
To support these and a range of other clients, Bollinger designed and directed teams of up to 30 colleagues — spanning offices in the U.S., Canada and Europe — who specialized in earned media, social media, events, sponsorships, digital marketing, internal communications and creative design.
At FleishmanHillard, she also led internship and diversity fellowship programs for the firm’s St. Louis and Minneapolis offices, which served as a critical pipeline for talent, including students and recent graduates from Saint Louis University.
“I’ve long admired SLU for the way it lives its Jesuit values through academic excellence, groundbreaking research and deep engagement with the St. Louis community,” Bollinger said. “I’m honored to work alongside such a talented team to help strengthen SLU’s brand, elevate its stories and advance our mission.”
Bollinger holds a bachelor’s degree in communication from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. She has served as a volunteer board member for the Greater Missouri Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association and the Disabled Athlete Sports Association.
At SLU, Bollinger will work to advance Marketing and Communications (Marcom) as a client-services focused division that works closely with colleges, schools and administrative divisions to advance shared goals, support enrollment growth and build SLU’s reputation as a leading Jesuit research university.
Marcom is the central unit at Saint Louis University that is charged with promoting the University and managing the SLU brand. Assistant vice presidents Laura Geiser and Clayton Berry led the division as interim co-directors since May 2024.
“Laura and Clayton have provided strong and collaborative leadership through a time of transition,” Feser said. “I am grateful for their sound leadership and for their continued, dedicated service to their division and the University.”
