Language Resource Center Hosts Winter Polyglot Café

The Language Resource Center (LRC) at Saint Louis University hosted a winter edition of its longstanding Polyglot Café series on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2025.

Students, faculty, and staff came together to share in conversation and crafting of a take-home holiday ornament. Attendees connected in many world languages, including Chinese, French, German, Portuguese, Spanish, and Russian.

"The Polyglot Café is unique at SLU in its mission to foster language learning and cross-cultural exchange through hands-on crafting.," said LRC Director Dan Nickolai, Ph.D. "These monthly events provide a fun social atmosphere conducive to self-expression and collaboration in a second language." 

This month's event was sponsored by Vista Higher Learning and the Jane M. and Bruce P. Robert Charitable Foundation. 

The Language Resource Center at Saint Louis University is an academic support unit in the Department of Linguistics, Literatures, and Cultures. The LRC's mission is to enrich, enhance and transform second language and cultural learning, teaching and research at SLU. Operating at the intersection of language pedagogy and instructional technology, the LRC provides physical and digital resources for teaching, learning and researching world languages and cultures.
