Study Participants Needed for Obesity and Lipedema Study

SLU Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism Research is looking for volunteers for an obesity and lipedema research study.

Researchers are seeking individuals with obesity and/or lipedema, who have a BMI between 30-49.9 kg/m2. Participants must be females, age 18-50 years of age, not menopausal and not currently pregnant or breastfeeding.

The purpose of this research is to determine the differences in adipose (fat) tissue remodeling between women with classic obesity and women with obesity and lipedema. This may help researchers better understand lipedema obesity, and how it affects patients.

Study participation will consist of a screening visit and two (2) study visits, at least one (1) week apart. Subjects will undergo a DEXA scan to measure body composition, and then an insulin infusion procedure and two (2) adipose tissue (fat) biopsies.
Financial compensation is available to qualifying participants.
