SLU to Sell Salus Center

07/08/2025

To better steward its resources and reduce its overall facilities footprint, Saint Louis University has announced plans to sell Salus Center, formerly home to SLU’s College for Public Health and Social Justice.

Located at Lafayette Avenue and Grand Boulevard on SLU’s south campus, the 361,909-square-foot building served as the college’s home for more than two decades before its relocation to a newly renovated space on the north campus in January.

SLU originally acquired the building — the former Compton Heights Hospital — from Tenet Healthcare in 2001. Over the years, Salus Center has also housed a variety of University offices, as well as medical and research clinics.

In addition to the building itself, SLU plans to sell several adjacent parking lots and undeveloped parcels totaling nearly 18.4 acres.

Currently, Salus is the University’s southernmost property along Grand.

The site falls within the 400-acre development zone overseen by the St. Louis Midtown Redevelopment Corporation (SLMRC), a joint initiative between the University and SSM Health to encourage growth and investment in areas surrounding their campuses.
