SLU Theatre Dance Announces 2025-26 Main Stage Season
05/02/2025
Saint Louis University's Theatre and Dance program has announced its productions for the 2025-26 main stage season.
There will be productions of "Macbeth," Immediate Theatre," "The Mousetrap," and "Shadows & Light."
Macbeth
"Macbeth" is Shakespeare's classic exploration of the corrupting influence of unchecked power, and the stories we tell ourselves to justify our ambitions. It is the story of one man and a small group of enablers who seize a kingdom and impose an oppressive and violent rule. More than any of this, though, it is the story of the small group of determined and heroic people who come together to stop him. A dark, exciting, supernatural ride of a play, full of sound and fury.
"Macbeth" is directed by Nancy Bell and runs Oct. 2-5, 2025.
Immediate Theatre
"Immediate Theatre" is a production of several short plays, each directed by an emerging artist in the SLU Theatre and Dance Program. It is the culmination of the Program’s advanced directing course. Under the mentorship of the faculty and staff, each advanced directing student selects, casts, and stages an entire play.
The students engage with a full production team and with one another to present their fully realized works in repertory within a single production. The result is daring, exuberant, and collaborative.
The overall production is directed by Associate Professor Lucy Cashion and runs Nov. 13-16, 2025.
The Mousetrap
After a local woman is murdered, the guests and staff at Monkswell Manor find themselves stranded during a snowstorm. It soon becomes clear that the killer is among them, and the seven strangers grow increasingly suspicious of one another. A police detective, arriving on skis, interrogates the suspects: the newlyweds running the house; a spinster with a curious background; an architect who seems better equipped to be a chef; a retired Army major; a strange little man who claims his car has overturned in a drift; and a jurist who makes life miserable for everyone.
"The Mousetrap" is a record-breaking murder mystery from Dame Agatha Christie, the foremost mystery writer of her time. A guest director is TBA, with performances running Feb. 26, 2026, to March 1, 2026.
Shadows & Light
In the realm of dance, we often find ourselves standing at the intersection of shadow and light. Much like life itself, the balance between darkness and illumination shapes the movement, the story and the creative process.
"Shadows & Light" is an exploration of that delicate interplay — the moments of clarity that emerge from the murkiness, and the profound understanding that comes from the quiet spaces in between.
Join us for an evening that invites you into the beauty of movement as it evolves, reveals, and illuminates the complexities of the human experience in action. "Shadows & Light" is directed by Dance Coordinator Holly Seitz Marchant, with performances April 24-26, 2026.
Tickets go on sale in Summer 2025. To join the Theater and Dance mailing list, email arts@slu.edu.
